Development of Digested Sludge-Assimilating and Biohydrogen-Yielding Microflorae

چکیده

Digested sludge (DS) is a waste product of anaerobic digestion that produced during the biodegradation excess sludge. It cannot be used as substrate for further biogas production owing to its recalcitrant nature. In present study, we heat treatment technique convert DABYS microflora (DABYS = digested sludge-assimilating and biogas-yielding soil microflora), which degraded DS methane gas, could produce hydrogen gas from DS. Heat at 80 100 °C inactivated methanogens consume but did not affect thermotolerant bacteria. We developed three microflorae (DABYS-A80, DABYS-A100, DABYS-80B) exclusively gas. They included representatives eubacterial families Clostridiaceae Enterobacteriaceae. Pseudomonas sp. was also in DABYS-A80 DABYS-A100. thought bacteria Enterobacteriaceae family or genus survive because they are embedded microgranules. Enzymatic analysis suggested hydrolyzed using cellulase, chitinase, protease. Under optimum culture conditions, DABYS-A80, -A100, B-100 yields 8.0, 7.1, 2.6 mL, respectively, 1.0 g dried

Ammonia Removal from Digested Sludge Supernatant

Wastewater Treatment Plants that make use of anaerobic processes for sludge digestion often have problems with phosphates and ammonia nitrogen “overloads” returned to biological sewage treatment process together with effluents coming from dewatering of digestion sludge. The high concentrations of phosphates and ammonium nitrogen in supernatant constitute 10 – 20 % of entire load brought to biol...

Biological testing of a digested sewage sludge and derived composts.

Aiming to evaluate a possible loss of soil habitat function after amendment with organic wastes, a digested sewage sludge and derived composts produced with green residues, where biologically tested in the laboratory using soil animals (Eisenia andrei and Folsomia candida) and plants (Brassica rapa and Avena sativa). Each waste was tested mimicking a field application of 6ton/ha or 12ton/ha. Av...

Anaerobic biodegradation of phenolic compounds in digested sludge.

We examined the anaerobic degradation of phenol and the ortho, meta, and para isomers of chlorophenol, methoxyphenol, methylphenol (cresol), and nitrophenol in anaerobic sewage sludge diluted to 10% in a mineral salts medium. Of the 12 monosubstituted phenols studied, only p-chlorophenol and o-cresol were not significantly degraded during an 8-week incubation period. The phenol compounds degrad...

Digested Sludge Rheology: Similarities with Soft Glassy Materials

Despite the obvious advantages of anaerobic sludge digestion viz. sludge reduction and sustainable management, it has some drawbacks. In particular, anaerobic digestion produces a complex and unknown residue sludge which is difficult to treat and to dewater. Because dewatering mainly involves rheological solid characteristics, this paper focuses on the similarities between these residues with o...

Ammonium removal from digested sludge liquors using ion exchange.

Liquors arising from the dewatering of digested sludge typically contain ammonium levels in the range 200-700mgl(-1) NH(4)(+)-N. These liquors are frequently recycled to the head of the wastewater treatment works (WwTW) untreated and can constitute >25% of the total nitrogen load entering the works at inlet. This paper investigates the use of a clay-based material, MesoLite, as an ion exchange ...
